In response to the CIPA, approved by the United States Supreme Court July 2003, filters are on all public internet stations. Adults aged 17 and above may request that the filters be removed and as staffing permits, the request will be granted. The adult patron will inform the staff at the end of their computer usage. Filters cannot protect children from all adult content online and may in fact block useful, educational material.
The library staff monitors the computer lab, but realize parents or caregivers make the best supervisor.
