Ages K thru 5th Grade
*Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult/caregiver

Fishing, Live bugs, "Gyotaku" craft, Science experiments, activities in the "bog" and games

Ghana Gold II: Art in African Lives

Friday, July 8th
Michael Opoku:

2 pm - 5 pm ~ Children ages K thru 12 Grade
Pre-register to attend - Call library @ 402.245.2913
He will teach the children to drum on authentic African drums and also other aspects of the Ghanian culture. The activity will be split into groups, one group will drum while the other tours the gallery and then switch. The last part of the event will be the two groups coming together to rehearse for a program.Students will then perform at 5 pm for the public in the library parking lot.

Michael Opoku is originally from Ghana, Africa. Michaels high energy presentation will take students into a journey of Africa which will be fun, vibrant and humorous. Students will learn how to drum, sing and dance while Michael sprinkles in stories about African history and culture.

Students will visit the Sheldon Statewide Exhibition at the Stalder Gallery, work to create theiir own original works of art - comic book theme.  If youth are enrolled in 4-H, these works of art can be entered in the 4-H/FFA Jr. Fair the last week of July.  You should plan to attend all three sessions
